"To me, the rape kit backlog is one of the clearest and most shocking demonstrations of how we regard these crimes in our society. Testing rape kits sends a fundamental and crucial message to
victims of sexual violence: you matter. What happened to you matters. Your case matters." -Mariska Hargitay, Producer, I am Evidence, Founder & President, Joyful Heart Foundation.
Please join Fair Haven, Lake County SART (Sexual Assault Response Team), and Indiana University Northwest's Sexual Assault Task Force as we screen "I am Evidence". This moving documentary exposes the
alarming number of untested rape kits in the United States, bringing much needed attention to the disturbing pattern of how the criminal justice system has historically treated sexual assault
survivors. We will be hosting a panel discussion directly following the movie.
This film is relevant to everyone- Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Students, Survivors, Activists.
The viewing and panel discussion will take place in the Bergland Auditorium.
